Match Report of South Africa Vs Sri Lanka, 3rd Sunfoil ODI at Chevrolet Park, Bloemfontein

South Africa were declared winners in the rain-affected Third ODI at the Chevrolet Park in Bloemfontein by a margin of 4 runs according to the Duckworth Lewis Method. Rain halted play and prevented any further action with the Proteas at 179 for 5 in 34 overs with Skipper AB de Villiers playing a crucial unbeaten 39 from 36 balls to help SA stay ahead of the par total. Earlier, the South African innings got the impetus from Faf du Plessis who scored a superb 72 from 74 balls with 7 fours after being promoted to no.4.

Sri Lanka batting first after winning the toss put up a solid 266 for 9 and would have fancied their chances of a win when they had SA four down with not much of batting left after the pair of AB de Villiers and Albie Morkel. The Sri Lankan innings saw just one half century which came at the top of the order from Upul Tharanga who top scored with 58 from 65 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Nuwan Kulasekara provided the finishing touches with his came of 40 from 38 balls with a four and a six.

Faf du Plessis got the Man of the Match for his lovely knock of 72. The fourth ODI between the two sides will be played on the 20th at Kimberley.
