India have chosen Rishabh Pant in the ODI team for the first two ODIs against the West Indies.

India have chosen Rishabh Pant in the ODI team for the first two ODIs against the West Indies. Pant has be selected in place of Dinesh Karthik.

One of the reasons behind Pant selection could be MS Dhoni’s worrying form in the build up the World Cup next year. Speaking on the same, chief selector MSK Prasad has clarified that Pant has actually been picked as a specialist batsman

“Yes, definitely (Pant has been picked as specialist batsman) but if a need arises he will be the backup keeper,” Prasad was quoted as saying in a HT report.

“It is no brainer who is our No 1 wicketkeeper. In search of second wicketkeeper, we have given opportunities to9 DK and right now we are giving an opportunity to Rishabh Pant. At an appropriate time, we will take a call as to who is the best among the two,” he further added.
